DOG WALKING

We are fortunate to live in an area excellent for dog walkers and their canine companions. To ensure the area can be enjoyed by everyone please be aware of the following:
1 Please clean up after your dog and take your waste home for disposal. Dog waste disposal bags are available in most supermarkets and in the Chinese Bazaar shop
2 Carry a container of water which can be used as drinking water for your dog or to dilute if your dog urinates against a wall or other property
3 The road surfaces can get very hot and this can cause severe burns to dog's paws. Test the ground with your hand, keep your hand on the ground for 7 seconds, if it hurts you, it's going to hurt your dog. During the summer it is only advisable to walk your dog in the morning and
evening (when the road surface has had time to cool). Avoid walking in the midday sun. Be aware that external surfaces around your property may also be too hot.
4 We are surrounded by pine trees, between December and April (approximately) dogs are at risk from Pine Processionary caterpillars which can be fatal to dogs and can cause severe harm to humans. The nests can be seen in the trees but real harm is caused when the caterpillars hatch and crawl in a line
