FIRE PREVENTION

The beauty of our area is partly created by the pine forest that surrounds us. Unfortunately, because of extreme conditions caused by climate change there is an increased risk of fire. The following action should be taken in the event of discovering a fire.
1 Contact the Emergency Services on 112 or 085
(don’t assume someone else has reported or that the fire is planned or insignificant) 2 Alert the
3 In the event that there is immediate and significant risk to El Aspre sound air / car horns or activate alarms and alert the Whatsapp Group
4 Alert neighbours who may not be aware of the early warning systems or who may need assistance should evacuation be necessary
5 Alert the relevant online groups listed below*
DO NOT put yourself or others at risk of harm.
Fire Prevention
Fires ignited by natural causes, such as lightning, cannot always be prevented so vigilance, prompt reporting and appropriate action are critical. Fires caused by human activity are preventable and strict guidelines have been issued by Generalitat Valenciana. The full publication can be viewed online Introduction (gva.es)
Emergency Risk Level (including fire, emergency etc)
The level of risk of fire, extreme weather etc. within the Generalitat Valenciana region is assessed frequently and the results updated on the GVA website 112 Comunitat Valenciana - 112CV - Generalitat Valenciana (gva.es). Risk levels affect when fires are, or are not, permitted. You can check the level of pre-emergency and its forecast for the next day at:

at the Town Hall
The basic rules below are mandatory*
The rules apply in all circumstances and for any activity in or within 500 meters of forest land and therefore applicable to El Aspre. If in doubt, consult the Town Hall for guidance. ▪ Bonfires and some work activities such as tree removal require permission from the Town Hall ▪ Fires are only permitted in places prepared and authorized to that effect. ▪ When the level of pre-emergency is 3 or higher fires are prohibited and permits previously issued are suspended.
▪ Cigarettes or matches must never be discarded on the floor or in litter bins. ▪ When you plan to carry out authorized activity that involves the use of fire, inform people close to you and have a mobile phone readily available in case of emergency.
▪ Pick up any litter that you have generated and dispose of it in the appropriate way.
Outdoor Cooking & Heating including Barbecues, Pizza Ovens, Fire Pits etc.
Outdoor cooking and heating equipment where gas, fuel and flames are involved, barbecues, fire pits, pizza ovens etc. come with considerable risks. Whether used on private property or in common or recreational areas they must be used safely and with fire prevention given precedence. ▪ Gas barbecues with a lid are permitted throughout the year.
▪ Charcoal barbecues and any equipment with open flames are prohibited throughout the summer and when the pre-emergency risk level is 3 or higher.
▪ Ensure your equipment is set up correctly, maintained and cleaned in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Use spark arresters where recommended.
▪ Never use chemicals or flammable liquids to start or speed up a fire
▪ When lit never leave equipment unattended
▪ Let your equipment and any residual products (ash, grease, etc) cool completely before moving ▪ Stay alert and be prepared. Have a fire extinguisher or bucket of sand nearby to help control grease and chiminea fires. Have a hose available in case any trees or vegetation are set alight ▪ Keep fires in firepits, chimineas etc. small
