Water, Septic, Gas
& Electricity

Water

Water is supplied by Acciona to El Aspre. Occasionally there are problems with water supply  and / or pressure. If this is as a result of maintenance work there will normally be a  notification via the Orba Ayuntamiento app.

If water flow appears to be reduced but your neighbours are not affected it is worth checking  any filters in your taps, hoses etc as they may need to be cleared of sediment that can build  up

If water pressure problems continue contact Acciona via their office in Orba in Avinguda de  las Ameriques 30 or on 965 584 115

Septic Tanks

El Aspre does not have mains sewerage. So domestic wastewater and organic matter are  drained into septic tanks.

Some properties have older septic tanks that rely on aerobic and anaerobic bacteria to  decompose the solid organic matter. Liquids are drained to land. Periodically the pit will need  to be emptied of solid matter by a suitable contractor. It is important that these septic  systems are maintained correctly to avoid land and air pollution.

Do not use harsh chemicals such as bleach.

Do not flush anything other than bodily waste, wastewater and toilet paper.  Products are available that boost the bacteria, these should be used periodically. Raw liver  can also be used.

Fats and oils must not be discharged into the system

Other properties have watertight oxygenating septic tanks that retain all the contents. These  should be maintained in accordance with the installer or manufacturer’s instructions and  emptied periodically.

Companies that provide septic tank emptying and maintenance services advertise in the local  press. Alternatively local Facebook groups are a good resource for recommendations.

Gas

There is no mains gas in El Aspre. Gas bottles can be purchased and exchanged through a  variety of local suppliers.

By law, all gas fittings for static installations on cookers, gas boilers and central heating systems  must be inspected by authorised inspectors every 5 years. Gas fittings on portable items such as  barbecues, heaters and cooking appliances do not need to be inspected but it’s advisable to  change the degradable parts such as rubber fittings every 5 years.

Be aware of cold calling techniques to canvas for unnecessary, expensive and sometimes illegal  maintenance contracts. The personnel will usually look the part and have identity cards but their  tactics are often forceful. They should be avoided and the local Police notified

Electric

Electric is supplied by Iberdrola although supply and billing may be through another  contracted organisation.

Planned maintenance will usually be communicated through notices posted in the affected  area.

In the event of power failure, you should initially contact the service provider with whom you  are contracted.
