BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY
Minutes Annual General Meeting
Thursday January 29th 2026
1.Introduction
Nando welcomed attendees (24 residents attended, with a further 5 residents on-line). The Mayor was unable to attend this meeting.
There were a few difficulties with accessing the meeting online and these will be addressed prior to the next meeting.
2. Establishment of legally recognised Residents Association
We were unable to complete registration for 2025. At a recent meeting of the representatives of the other Urbanisations, it was tabled that it would make sense to have one Association to represent the interests of all residents. This collective approach would benefit both residents and the Town Hall by having a singular view of what work is required. It was also suggested that we try to have direct representation on the Town Hall Council by placing an Urbanisation resident on the ballot on the next Election.
3. Community Issues and Updates
a. Formalising Complaints and Requests
Whilst Nando has had some difficulty in getting timely responses from the Town Hall he continues to lodge formal complaints to both the Town Hall and the companies responsible for waste collection. We have seen some recent efforts to cut back verges and the basura company has responded positively to our requests for increased capacity and for the shed to be repainted. The completion of these tasks has been severely impacted by adverse weather. We have also formally complained about the lack of an English version of the Orba website.
b. Condition of Roads
Recent bad weather has severely affected several roads. Existing potholes have deepened because of heavy rain. Particularly Massil, Aspret,Barrancs. Photos were requested of other problems in other roads to be e-mailed to president.laspre@gmail.com
Problem re “private parking” on Calle Fronto to be investigated by Nando and Richard.
c. Neighbourhood Security
Good progress is being made with the training of an enhanced local police unit and the CCTV cameras have been installed. A recent incident received an excellent response by both the local police and Guardia Civil.
d. Social Activities
The Games Club has been successfully established and is now open to all residents of Orba. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 15:30 to 17:30. Games include Chess, Backgammon, Rummikub and Scrabble. We also have an Intercambio Group which is popular with both Spanish and English speakers. Meetings are held at the Biblioteca Municipal d’Orba
3. Other Business

4. Cash balance remains Euro 152.80 however we have expenses of Euro 181.50 for the annual hosting cost of the website that are outstanding plus monthly fees of Euro 10.45.
5. Next meeting. Date to be arranged for April and it will be an outline meeting, with translation capability. It is critical that we reach out to more residents/owners. Every nationality needs to be able to participate and have an equal voice in our community.
